MINAL A’IDIN WAL FA’IZIN

Just something that I learnt recently. And since Raya is coming soon, I guess this is a good post to correct our past mistakes.

Normally, we would be hearing people saying or perhaps yelling, “MINAL AIDIL WAL FAIZIN” to us.

Unfortunately, the correct word that should be use is MINAL A’IDIN WAL FA’IZIN

A’idin means the group that have returned.

Fai’zin means the group that have won or are successful.

I will leave the in-depth Arabic meaning aside though.

Because the phrase itself is a prayer, as such its best if we are able to say it correctly. I guess this happen due to the numerous number of Hari Raya songs that we’ve grown up listening to. Nice to hear the word but not necessarily correct in its translation.

With that in mind, have a great time celebrating Raya folks ! I know I will. :-)

    anyway i just wanna take this opportunity to wish you selamat hari raya aidilfitri. Mintak maaf zahir batin kalau ada tersilap bahasa ke, ter”over” kasi komen ke dan “ter” …”ter”…”ter” yg sewaktu dengannya.hehehe ;)

    OK I read this one a bit late.. but thank you for pointing it out. We should stop the minal aidil thoroughly.
