When is the computer considered a hindrance to learning?
Some people simply think that they should be using technology in every single aspect of their teaching, simply because it is the next cool thing to do. But I beg to differ.
Technology is being introduced to the education sector simply for enhancing the teaching and learning. But there are instances when ICT can also be hindrance.
This usually occurs when it is being assumed to be the prime motivator for the lesson rather than just a teaching tool. Or when there is no purpose or plan of using it effectively to the teaching of the lesson.
The worst of all, when too much “shadow work” is prepared by the teacher for a meager value of the lesson to be taught.
I for one believe that if technology is not able to enhance the teaching, leave it as it is and revert back to traditional method.
