the conversation with ex-boss

Some people are just weird. After gossiping behind a person’s back for quite some time, they tend to come back to the said person and lick back their own words, complete with their dog tails slid quietly behind their legs.. and began the process of sucking up the person, quite possibly to achieve their own goal or ultimate aim in working.

I was chatting with a fellow colleague earlier and got to know that a couple of seniors (not exactly seniors but they join around the same year that I was going to quit the old job) had tendered their resignation and other newbies are being promoted to places that shouldn’t be theirs in the first place.

Moments later, I received a msn message from my ex-boss (who was a fellow colleague back when I first joined my previous company but parted from it, only to rejoin the parent company and become the boss of the current project… long story, another post).

She said that she was having a lot of issues back in our old place and wish that the old birds could have stayed longer and help her out. I was surprised by this statement because she is someone who wouldn’t give a rats ass about who is leaving and who is staying.

Apparently, she have come to realise on the intellectual capability of the current bunch of engineers though the realisation came a tad too late for her to salvage what can be retrieved from that sunken ship.

Towards the end of our conversation, she gave a proposition for me to come back to the job but with different pay package and different role in the project.

My reply to her: Thanks but no thanks. It’s been a good 4 years spending in the project and gaining valuable experiences while forging new friendship but sometimes, its best to leave on a high note rather than coming back again. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

That last statement probably hit the spot. She said ok to me and abruptly end our conversation. But the message was clear.

A dog don’t lick back its own pee.
