10 Unsolved Mysteries Of The Brain

…look in the mirror at your left eye. Now shift your gaze to your right eye. Your eye movements take time, of course, but you do not see your eyes move. It is as if the world instantly made the transition from one view to the next. What happened to that little gap in time ?

[ link here ]

Really interesting article. It’s weird how light travels faster than sound, yet our brains perceive sound faster than light. Of course, anyone else who sit and think about these sometimes will have a total mind fuck blowing experience 🙂

By the way, view the webpage of Dr. David Eagleman, the author of the article. Incredibly interesting research going on in his lab, including whether time really goes into slow motion when people are in a life-threatening situation.

Five Shocking Stats About Men and Sex

The idea that men think about sex every seven seconds, like the claim that we only use 10 percent of our brains, is often repeated but rarely sourced….. the average hotel porn viewer watches for just 12 minutes.

[ link here ]

Quite shocking!! 12 minutes only ? 🙂

Of course, if you are getting sex, don’t worry about that stats in the link. If you aren’t getting sex, the stats don’t really apply.

Forget the statistics 🙂

The Great American Pants Suit

By the middle of next week, Roy Pearson, the D.C. administrative law judge who sued his neighborhood dry cleaners for $54 million and lost, will receive a letter that starts the process of putting him out of a job.

[ link here ]

It is about time! That fellow, as a lawyer and worse as a judge, is part of the problem. How could anyone take him seriously over such a frivolous suit (both meanings)? Any ruling he could weigh in on would be tainted.

As a judge, one should decide the law, not abuse it to the point of ridiculousness. Anyone, in their right mind knows, those pants weren’t worth more than $53,000,000. That’s what he gets for being greedy.

Spybot: Search and Destroy

This well known free anti-malware application was recently served a legal notice by another well-known vendor product for Deskmates. The reply is priceless.

spybot

I have used Spybot S&D for years and it’s been a GREAT asset. I donated $5/- too, just as a way of telling them that their software is great. It’s good to see a company standing up for the “little people” for once.

Besides, it’s MY computer. And I will run ONLY what I want. Any tool that assists in my endeavour is good. Any software that steals cycles for any reason is bad. Anyone that thinks they have any right to a single cycle of my CPU is evil.

Your text sung by rock stars

I came across this a year ago, but it magically vanished. Everyone I asked online about it had no idea what I was talking about. Strangely, I stumbled upon it this morning and I would like to post this up, so that I can enjoy my own lyrics, however alien it probably sound like 🙂

It’s fun putting in lyrics to various songs and hearing them sung in unique ways. Occasionally you’ll actually get a piece of the song you were referencing.

Once ready, click here to listen and have a go on it.

Sad plight of senior citizens in Singapore

Aidil’s entry made my tears flow down without me even realising it. It was a sad reflection of today’s self-centred, fast-moving Singapore where many neighbours hardly talked, let alone cared, for each other.

The plight of senior citizens who live by themselves without children’s care in a high health-cost society without some form of welfare. And they are 75 and 69 years old mind you, yet there they are, living together, with all the frailties trying to overcome them together, hand in hand.

I dare you to read his entry and not have a tinge feeling of sadness in that lump of flesh inside you.

Senior citizens’ plight has no doubt moved some segments of society and attracted institutional / governmental concessions like a few medical benefits, some reduction in train and bus rides, and many more.

I will certainly be looking forward into bumping to a wheel-chair bound woman/man selling tissues these days.
