Crowd steals dying man groceries after hit-and-run

The sight of an old man being hit by a truck in Arizona touched off a feeding frenzy among witnesses who allegedly stole the dying victim’s groceries. Not only were the man’s groceries taken, but the only person who tried to help him also had his own bags taken.

Wow. They need to get some more food to those people in Arizona.. Initially, I had a fleeting thought of “are these people human”, then i regressed to “are these people THAT hard up for food?”

Hmmm….

iPod Nano Catches Man Pants on Fire

Man carrying a previous generation of iPod Nano in his pants pocket looked down to realize there were flames coming up to his chest.

Williams said the burn hole from the pocket of his pants marks the spot of his 15 seconds of flame. He said he had an iPod Nano and an glossy piece of paper in his pocket….

The iPod uses a lithium ion battery — the same type of battery under recall for setting laptops on fire…

iPod on fire

In light of all the recent events that have happened in the airports of that country, I’m surprised the airport security didn’t arrest him for being a terrorist. 😛

I like how the iPod catches him on fire and he’s still all for getting a replacement from Apple himself. Now that’s brand loyalty 🙂

MINAL A’IDIN WAL FA’IZIN

[audio:kurungbiru.mp3]

Just something that I learnt recently. And since Raya is coming soon, I guess this is a good post to correct our past mistakes.

Normally, we would be hearing people saying or perhaps yelling, “MINAL AIDIL WAL FAIZIN” to us.

Unfortunately, the correct word that should be use is MINAL A’IDIN WAL FA’IZIN

faizin.JPG

A’idin means the group that have returned.

Fai’zin means the group that have won or are successful.

I will leave the in-depth Arabic meaning aside though.

Because the phrase itself is a prayer, as such its best if we are able to say it correctly. I guess this happen due to the numerous number of Hari Raya songs that we’ve grown up listening to. Nice to hear the word but not necessarily correct in its translation.

With that in mind, have a great time celebrating Raya folks ! I know I will. 🙂

Selamat Hari Raya from both my fiancee and I

Man sue counsellor for stealing his wife

Here’s something you don’t read every day. A Chicago-area man is suing his former marriage counsellor for stealing his wife !!

Scott Buetow, 35, is seeking more than USD$200,000 in punitive damages from his former counsellor, Dan Blair, and the Arbor Counseling Center where Blair works.

Buetow’s suit said during the alleged relationship, Blair continued counselling him and worked to undermine the marriage to his benefit by tendering poor advice. He also alleges that during this time the counsellor started the affair with his wife that doomed the marriage to divorce.

Is $200,000 worth a marriage? I wonder if he’s intentionally low-balling his wife. But in this case I would have to go with the old advice, the worst thing you can do to the man who steals your wife is to let him keep her.

Of course there is a Malay proverb for such scenario: Harapkan pagar, pagar makan padi. 🙂

ps: And yes, I know the title is a bit misleading as I know of some men who would be thankful to such counsellors if they took their wives away from them too !!

Woman Locked Up for 70 Years After Being Falsely Accused of Stealing 13p

This is the saddest and most disturbing story I have heard in a very long while, possibly ever. Just goes to show that when you put the power of peoples lives in the hands of “important” people, suffering will always result.

A woman was locked up and “lost” for 70 years after being wrongly accused of stealing 13p. Jean Gambell, 85, was “certified” indefinitely in 1937 over claims she had taken the cash while cleaning at a doctor’s surgery. The money was found — but Jean still spent 70 years in a maze of care institutions.

Unfortunately, people in power don’t give a shit about what is right or wrong. They give a shit about public opinion and the opinion was that this woman stole a few cents and so just HAD to be incarcerated for most of her life.

Will she get any kind of an apology or anything? No. I don’t think so. They don’t care. They’ve wasted her life and they don’t care because they have fancy houses, cars and lots of money to make these kind of issues “disappear”.

This poor woman should have ownership of every single piece of property the doctor and his children/grandchildren own.
