The Aftermath of the test

The first thing that I realised when I walked in was the distinctive separation between degree job applicants and diploma job applicants. There were 15 of us in that room, vying for 3 vacant post (whose criteria is for Dip holders), and out of which, 7 of the job applicants are degree candidates.

What a complete bummer!

The weekend was…

Fast paced really. We headed to JB on Saturday afternoon, hoping that we would not encounter any major hiccups like uber long traffic jams or worst, kiasu citizens trying to make a 100m sprint towards the queue to stamp their passports and get their feet onboard the next available public transport.

But the worst was yet to come.

The call

It was such a quick call that I have forgotten to ask even for the name. It happen in less than 2 minutes.

Negotiation in the process. If all goes clear, I might be off sooner than I expected.

Edited: No sooner have I publish this entry, I got the 2nd call a few minutes ago. An interview, this Tuesday. Hope all goes well.

Avoid cheap power supply units that come bundled with your PC

The computer power supply is not only one of the most important parts on a PC; it is also the most overlooked. When computer buffs talk about their systems having very powerful processors, RAM and video cards they rarely ever mention the power supply.

When purchasing a new computer people would rather put more money into a faster CPU, Video Card or an interesting case instead of putting it into a good power supply. The savings you make by skimping on the power supply will not be worth it.

Love Marriage vs Arranged Marriage

Yesterday, a new call centre agent was brought in to be part of this jinx, shithole project, slotted to be a replacement to another agent who have thrown the towel.

As usual, the new recruits being employed by the company is something to be concern about. Here we have, newbies joining the company with ZERO technical experiences, and yet, they are being deployed in IT service support. Their reasons? Because some of the newly hired employees came from call-centre background, so they wish to tap on the experiences of these recruits to salvage the account.

Like wtf?

The one on furthering study

Suddenly this one looks kinda cool too. Gotta seek advise from da matchmaker’s guy on this first.

We all know that Dip level holders now in abundance. So much so that pretty soon, its going to be like an O level cert – everyone’s got it now. And O level cert is going to be like PSLE cert – can just dump it to the bin can just place it at the top of your wardrobe. Don’t get me started on what PSLE cert is equivalent to.

I think this country is being too fast paced as compared to other countries elsewhere in the region, or in fact, the rest of the world. Yes, our education is No.1 right now thanks to the discipline being enforced by the education ministry here.

However, I think that at times, its the pressure being enforced by the education ministry that makes the students feel stress and resort to negative traits too. This, together with the employment standards being enforced by the manpower ministry, raises the bar on the employment criteria and now, we are facing job competition due to our embrace on globalisation issue too.

Oh great, random thoughts making up a random paragraph up above.

Funny ordeal

Back from 2 days and 2 nights of time spent for a nearby wedding catering, the one which we cook for the big sister 4 years ago. My mood: Tired. Lethargic. Sleepy.

Funny things to note:
